Module 1 -
Introduction to Neurodiversity in Adults

  • Why the time is right for a course of this kind.
  • Ways of talking about neurodiversity, including specifics about language and the concept
    of disability.
  • A brief look at which conditions are described as neurodivergent.
  • Why knowing that your client is or may be ND is important, and the implications for your
    work together.

Module 2 -
Understanding ADHD in Adults

Module 3 -
A Closer Look at Autism

 

  • What is autism spectrum condition (ASC)?
  • Stereotypes and myths surrounding autism.

  • Implications for coaching the Recovery Pathway with an autistic adult.
  • Case study.
  • What to do and say if you’re working with someone who thinks they might be autistic but isn’t sure or has no idea

Module 4 -
Crossovers and Complications

 

  • The profile of a client when both ADHD and autism are present in combination.
  • Co-morbidities and crossovers that are commonly seen in neurodivergent clients.
  • Hormonal interactions in women: PMDD and perimenopause/menopause.
  • The role of trauma, identity issues, gender and sexuality in neurodivergent clients.
  • Case study.
  • What to do and say if you’re working with someone who is presenting with the traits of a variety of neurodivergent conditions or co-morbidities

The main modules have been pre-recorded so that you can work through at your own pace, followed by a live integration session where you can practice the tools you have been learning.

AJ Harman

Amanda Jayne Harman (AJ) is a neurodivergent coach, writer and the founder of Outside the Box: Neurodiverse Coaching and Mentoring, a growing neurodivergent support business.

Before starting Outside the Box, AJ had a successful career as an editor, proofreader and book project manager for nearly 30 years.

Diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and autism spectrum condition (ASC) four years ago when she was 52, AJ now helps other late-diagnosed neurodivergent adults to come to terms with their differences. She uses coaching to help them to learn to look at their life so far through a new lens and to face their future with increased self-knowledge, celebration and a powerful strategy toolkit.

She also works with employers and line managers to help them support their neurodivergent staff and colleagues.

Elaine Wilkins BA Hons, PGCE, ILM CMI 

Elaine is the multi-Award winning founder of ‘The Chrysalis Effect Online Recovery Pathway’. Her own 6 year illness with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome was the catalyst to become a leader in the field in M.E., CFS and Fibromyalgia Recovery.
