Let's remind you of what happens in our body when our mind gets caught in the anxiety loop.
In chronic exhaustive conditions such as M.E., CFS and Fibromyalgia, the amygdala which links to the HPA Axis - (hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis) becomes hyper sensitised and starts interpreting harmless events as stressful, so you end up in the anxiety loop, (over-stimulated stress response).
So a simple thought of 'I’m feeling so tired', or 'I can't get to the shop', will trigger the stress response and send you into the anxiety loop.
This in turn leads to symptoms including exhaustion, brain fog, insomnia, muscle pain and much more, so you can feel like you have run a marathon even though you have been in bed all day.
So how does the anxiety loop affect how you feel?
The anxiety loop is your system running thinking patterns that you may not be consciously aware of.
This thought process triggers the stress response, which then puts your body in permanent fight or flight mode, therefore affecting the body in the following ways:
Let's explain how our mind works and why, when we feel like we have tried everything, there is a part of us that actually has.....
The subconscious mind is formed and starts developing right after birth & some believe this happens in the womb even before birth. The subconscious mind is located in the medulla oblongata (or the inter part of the brain).
From birth to 3 - everything that goes into a child’s life goes directly into the subconscious mind (bio computer)
It’s like a sponge absorbing water. What can penetrate the most are emotions and emotional experiences. These can become deeply etched in the unconscious mind.
So from birth children record both positive & negative emotions directly into their subconscious.
So from the following stimuli
All of these emotions can become deeply etched into a child's subconscious.
Most people are programmed with both positive and negative emotions. Negative emotions might create bad problems in your adult life.
Once they are recorded in your subconscious mind, they can affect you in a negative way - and can be with you for the rest of your life, unless you can release them through hypnotherapy, or another subconscious therapeutic process, like the Chrysalis Effect Transformation Process.
Installing positive emotions into your subconscious mind, and uninstalling those negative beliefs, will enable you to break free from what’s keeping you locked into your condition, stuck in a negative relationship, or a job or a situation, that you feel is out of your control as most of us are limited by the records we have playing in our mind.
Most people only rely on the conscious part of the brain to help them succeed, without releasing that to use 100% of our total mental power. Both our minds need to be working together in harmony!
Let’s take a look at the mind model to understand the conscious and the subconscious minds and the role they play.
When our mind is formed, a barrier is created between our conscious & subconscious minds, which is often called the critical faculty barrier.
When you are in a hypnotised state (via a hypnotherapist, intently watching a movie, or in deep relaxation/meditation) then the critical faculty barrier between your two minds drops down or is in a resting state. This allows direct access to your subconscious mind as you are then receptive to the input of and the ability to record or activate positive emotions.
Here are some different ways we use our conscious & subconscious in everyday life...
Environmental Hypnosis
Jumping into your car and driving on auto-pilot whilst at the same time thinking about your list of things to do, is a good example of environmental hypnosis.
Waking Hypnosis
When driving home on auto-pilot, when you think 'I can’t remember driving through that last village' is what is called waking hypnosis. When learning to drive, the patterns you learnt became embedded into your subconscious mind, so that’s why you can drive and focus on thinking, or listen to the radio at the same time, as the subconscious mind is in the most part helping you to drive the car.
Is our mind supporting us or hurting us?!
Now both subconscious and conscious can be working at the same time and the subconscious mind is identifying & associating with out conscious thoughts. We are constantly bringing up thoughts, pictures, emotions, words from our subconscious mind, these are either supporting us or hurting us.
If you overreact to a situation and then look back and wonder, 'why did I act like that, or get so upset?', it’s because your subconscious mind identified that situation (that made you angry) with a past situation or experience and emotion of anger.
Both minds are interacting. This is not left brain/right brain activity, it's more inner/outer brain function.
So they are either working together in harmony or against each other creating dysfunction, which can lead to a number of situations such as health challenges, financial issues, emotional/relationship problems or not achieving goals or desires.
Let’s look at this in relation to our health.
What happens when you think a positive thought like 'I want to be healthy & fit'?
The 10% thought 'I want to be healthy & fit' is battling against the 90% subconscious mind, so it could be battling against very different messages, such as,
'I’ll never get better, nothing ever works, everything makes me feel worse, I can’t remember what it’s like to be fit and healthy".
People's expectation will match the image that we put out.
When you learn that you need to change your language and your thoughts and become more aware, this can give you more choices.
So for example, being aware of not talking about your condition so much, you can start implementing this into your life.
You can start to make more effort, with your hair and makeup (not you guys of course); there is a core part of you that wants to fit in and be normal (10% conscious mind and willpower).
But there is a part of you that’s fighting against it - as you know you are not well. But when you stop talking about how you feel and start trying to act normal - then up comes the fear of what people will think, as you start looking like you're better and people could then expect more of you.
(This is the 90% subconscious, those fears, those pathways that have been created are so strong it becomes normal to have those fears).
So working on the subconscious level, to change these paths so that you don’t revert back, is vital to moving forward on the journey to health.
You can of course help on a conscious level as well, by explaining to the people around you that you are changing your language and that this is part of the process. You are still having to pace and rest, however you are not talking about it, and that they need to allow you to make changes slowly.
It’s not just via hypnotherapy and meditation that we can increase our awareness. The Chrysalis Effect Recovery Programme is taking you through many different areas of your life.
Parts of these areas are helping you to peel away those layers of that onion and get closer to the core, and the underlying causes, as they are allowing you to increase your conscious awareness, bringing things from your subconscious into your conscious awareness - and then you have a choice!
So how did those thoughts get into my subconscious mind? So you can see how the even though you feel like you are trying and have willpower, there is a bigger part of your mind battling against what you consciously believe.
So how does this happen? We cover this in the next module.
Neural Pathways are like footprints in the snow.....
When you have thoughts, either positive or negative, they are creating neural pathways in your brain.
They are like a path through the snow - the first time you walk through you might just leave a footprint, but the more you walk it, the deeper and more established it becomes, therefore it is the automatic route you take.
So this is what’s happening with your negative thoughts (i.e. you think consciously ' I feel tired all the time, I don’t know how I can get over this').
Eventually you don’t have to think the thought, that pathway is so deep, that it becomes automatic within your unconscious.
These thoughts that are then within your subconscious so you don’t have to consciously think them, are what keeps your system constantly in the flight or fight mode.
So that’s where The Chrysalis Effect Transformation Process comes in....
The Chrysalis Effect Transformation Process is a powerful technique designed to interrupt the unconscious negative thought patterns and replace them with new positive patterns.
This will then switch off the anxiety loop, enabling you to feeling calmer and more in control. The process will stimulate the release of endorphins (feel good chemicals) that will put your body into a healing state.
Once the anxiety loop is switched off, this will enable the digestive, immune, and hormonal systems to begin to return to their natural balance.
The process combines NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programme) and EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) with coaching techniques. By learning simple steps, movements, & breathing that will transform your health and your life.
The 7 Sessions with your Practitioner prepare you for the transformation process, give you the steps and teach you the process. The remaining sessions allow you to integrate the process into your life. Breaking old thought patterns, dealing with deeply embedded emotions, beliefs and thoughts that have kept you locked in your condition.
Your Practitioner will support you in becoming aware of these emotions, dealing with them and creating new thought patterns.
Using a unique combination of hypnotherapy, EFT, NLP and hypno-analysis to embed these beliefs into your subconscious mind, freeing you from your old patterns and allowing you to take back control of your health and your life.
This is the Energy Awareness Exercise, Record Breakers and The Transformation Process Healing Meditation.
The Meditation will start getting your body into a relaxed hypnotic state and start introducing new thoughts to your subconscious mind. Listen to the meditation every day, 1 to 3 times a day, and it will start getting your body into a healing state.
(You will also find all of these in the Wellbeing Exercises module)
If you feel that working with a Chrysalis Effect Transformation Process Practitioner will help you break through those barriers, and you feel like you have tried everything, this could be the final key to your recovery and regaining full health, energy and vitality and living the life you truly deserve.
Contact us for details of how to work with a Chrysalis Effect Transformation Process Practitioner.
It is of course not a cure, or replacing any medical treatment you may be having. The transformation process is designed to work alongside the recovery programme and of course in conjunction with the physical aspects such as working with a Chrysalis Effect Practitioner on your nutrition.
